Graduated from the University of Texas in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science in Communication and English. In 1984 he received his Masters degree in Education Administration from East Texas State University. He and his wife Beverly just celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary. They reside in Plano with their three children: Jordan, Texas Tech; Grant, a junior at Collin County Community College; and Wade, a senior at CHS. Coach English began his first season in Coppell in 2002 after 22 years of coaching, 18 as a head coach. His previous stops were at West Mesquite High School where he began the baseball program and led his '84 team to its first-ever school athletic playoff spot. In 1987 he traveled across town to become the head baseball coach of the Highland Park Scots. In nine years his teams finished in first or second place five times. The past six years he had coached Plano East to one regional semi-final, two quarter-finals, and one area final playoff. He was recently elected coach of the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association All-Star Game at Dell Diamond June 19th. |
